New Moon Fest

New Moon Fest is a transformative celebration of intuition, emotions, awareness, sensitivity, inclusivity and self-care, taking place on September 15th, 2023 at Mensch Meier club in Berlin. Organized by and including members from the oldest and most interesting FLINTA collectives and networks of the city, like Witches Are Back, female:pressure and Subculture Against Patriarchy, this event is a collective effort to celebrate and uplift the local community while promoting values that definitely need more space in the club culture. Since the beginning of time, the power of the moon is evident on the physical plane, affecting water, sea, plants, animals, and humans as well, and forming the rhythm of life through its cycles. The new moon is the beginning of a new cycle, creating a space for innovation and creativity, where imagination rules and guides, shaping new opportunities and realities where anything is possible. The anticipation of liberation from the old, and embracing new horizons and even the new improved version of oneself. A promise of transformation within and beyond the self, overcoming restrictions and obstacles. The event will start with a Sound Bath, Ecstatic Dance with Cacao Ceremony and Meditation, and the New Moon Ritual. Afterwards, the celebration will go on featuring body performance art and a wide range of electronic music performances, live and DJ sets, from diverse music styles, including bass music, techno, electro, world music, ambient and experimental. New Moon Fest will provide a space for personal growth and transformation. Through its emphasis on emotional and intuitive exploration, New Moon Fest seeks to create a unique and welcoming environment for attendees to connect with themselves and others. In line with its commitment to sustainability and support for the local community, the festival features mostly local artists and musicians from the Berlin area, promoting their growth and development. Refusing to follow the adopted rules of music business, this event rejects the concept of headliner artists, offering both more and less popular acts from the electronic music scene, whose selection is based on their quality and experience, instead of the number of their social media followers and their public image. Through these efforts, the New Moon Fest aims to transcend being just an electronic music event, becoming a transformative experience that will leave a long-lasting impact on attendees and on Berlin’s independent scene.

Ein letztes Mal tanzen im Meier Garten. Nach drei Jahren kommen wir zu unserem letzten Emergent Bass an diesem Ort zusammen, um das heilende Potential von afrodiasporischen Rhythmen und Bassmusik zu feiern.

Emergent Bass ist eine interdisziplinäre Veranstaltungsreihe mit Fokus auf die BIPoC Community. Wir wollen an die Geschichte von Schwarzen und queeren Menschen anknüpfen, die den Dancefloor schon lange als Orte des Widerstands gefeiert haben. Über Musik, Input und Performances möchten wir denjenigen Respekt zollen, deren Geschichten im Mainstream zu oft nicht gehört werden.

Wenn du Underground-Clubkultur liebst, aber dir über ihre Ursprünge im Unklaren bist, dann bist du bei uns richtig. Mit einem Fokus auf Bassmusik und afrodiasporische Rhythmen wollen wir mit dir gemeinsam feiern!

Wir freuen uns darauf, euch auf dem Dancefloor zu sehen und die letzten drei Jahre voller Vibes und Tanzfreude gemeinsam zu feiern.

Last time dancing Mensch Meier’s garden. After three years, we come together for our last Emergent Bass at this venue to celebrate the healing potential of Afro-diasporic rhythms and bass music.

Emergent Bass is an interdisciplinary event series focused on the BIPoC community. In our regular events, we combine the four disciplines: theory and discourse, with music and performance. We want to connect to the history of Black and Queer people who have long celebrated the dancefloor as places of resistance.

If you love underground club culture but are unclear about its origins, then you‘ve come to the right place. With a focus on bass music and Afro-diasporic rhythms, we want to celebrate with you!

We look forward to seeing you on the dance floor and celebrating the last three years of vibes and dance joy together.
